"On August 25, 2023, Dr. Nelson Pichardo, Vice President of Give A Hand, participated as one of five guest panelists for a Doctoral Alumni Retreat hosted by the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. The event was described by USC officials in the following manner:
"The Doctor of Social Work Student and Alumni Retreat is designed to facilitate cross pollination and networking among 60 professionals from around the country, tackling a diverse set of grand challenges through their ideation and implementation of real-world solutions."
The event is the first of its kind and promises to be an opportunity to provide a platform for dialogue among the executives focused on large-scale organizational strategy and development.

Dr. Pichardo shared among other topics, the work being established by Give A Hand, a nonprofit organization established to eliminate poverty. Give A Hand's mission is to decrease poverty by taking away the barriers of access to personal finance services for all unbankable and underbanked communities. Dr. Pichardo explained how the organization is working in Kenya, in partnership with financial institutions, to eliminate poverty with a systemic approach to creating and fostering micro-businesses and delivering personalized approaches to the success of these microbusinesses."
